My wife and I began looking for our first house in February 2017. We hoped to buy something with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and yard big enough for play and gardening, near a good primary school and public transportation into Minneapolis. We focused our searched on the area around Falcon Heights Elementary School, but we quickly discovered that homes in our price range were only staying on the market a few days. We needed help from an agent, but my wife and I were disagreeing more than we expected, so the last thing we wanted was extra pressure from a third party.
A friend put us in touch with Aaron Shumm and Tim Jones. Tim patiently helped us with our search, showing us homes almost every week in March and early April. His background in construction helped us identify structural issues, and his real estate experience helped us understand the seller’s perspective. He persevered when we changed our minds about a few homes that seemed promising. And as we saw more homes, my wife and I began to agree about what was most important to us.
On a Saturday in mid-April, Tim had just taken us to see two homes when he noticed a house had just been listed in Roseville. We were the first to view the property, and after seeing so many others, my wife and I immediately knew it was what we wanted. Tim helped us submit an offer the same day. The seller cancelled an open house scheduled for Sunday and accepted our offer.
We love our new home. We offered the seller a fair price, but competition was fierce and I doubt we would have been successful without Tim’s diligence.
